Bayonne Blades Skate School students become members of Learn to Skate USA's progressive basic skills program for children ages 4 and older.
Solid skill development, based on the ABC's of basic athleticism—Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed, allow our skaters to confidently advance to more specialized areas of skating.

All beginners should wear proper figure skates, sized by a professional, at a true skate shop.
Ample ankle support and sharpened blades are essential for these Learn-To-Skate lessons. Double blades & expandable boots are not permitted. Since every skate manufacturer sizes differently, and new skate blades will need to be sharpened (they do not come sharpened in the box), we strongly discourage ordering online and from purchasing skates from "big box" stores.
To make a skate fitting appointment at our suggested shop, Skate Pro, located inside the Staten Island Skating Pavilion, please call: 540-520-8160 or email skatepronyc@gmail.com. Skate Pro will fit you with the proper equipment for your skater's level and sharpen your new skates as well. All new skates must be sharpened before first use.
Purchasing online or from big box stores is highly discouraged. Expandable skates are not permitted.
Four- and five-year-old skaters, who aspire to play hockey, MUST begin on figure skates.
Helmets and gloves are mandatory for all students. Multisport, ski or hockey helmets are recommended. Clothing should be warm & allow for easy movement.
